Haiti Earthquake 2010 , The 2010 Haiti earthquake was a magnitude 7.0 earthquake that occurred approximately 10 miles (16 km) from Port-au-Prince, Haiti at 16:53 UTC-5 on 12 January 2010. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 6.2 miles (10.0 km).

Many Haitians have died and injured in the 2010 Haiti Earthquake. It is devastating, but the number of people who are helping, from celebrities down to the common people, are overwhelming.

The sad part is, do we really need disasters so our voices will become one? Hope that people will learn in past disastrous lessons. The time to make effort to clean our hearts is now.

The Haiti earthquake incident makes blacks, whites, yellow, basically all kinds of races become one in actions and in prayers. We are all brothers regardless of skin color and gender.

In a way, the Haiti earthquake reminds us that life is not forever, that we are bound by material nature. Hope that this will serve as an inspiration so we can be better persons.

There are positive things in negative occurrences; we just need the eyes and ears to feel it. Gratitude to the people who help Haitians, God bless us all.

Maguindanao had seen the worst case of political linked killing in its history when 60 people were massacred last Monday on their way to the Election Commission in Shariff Aguak. The party was composed of Buluan Vice Mayor Esmael Mangudadatu’s women family members along with media members and supporters. The team was dispatched to file the candidacy of the Vice Mayor to the gubernatorial race, which is still held by his long-time rival Gov. Andal Ampatuan Sr. As of posting, 52 of the bodies were already recovered. There are 4 more missing and another 4 in the custody of the authorities.

The families of these two political dynasties have already been involved in family exchanged killings in the past and until now, they are still at large. Maybe there are no compelling evidences because most locals are afraid to be associated with any of these families. They are known to retain armed body guards and even private armies, and yet, it seems they are not being held liable for that. Is that how democracy works in the Philippines?

The thing that stunned me the most is that the armed supporters of the Gov. Andal Ampatuan Sr (as reported by those survivors) just left the excavating equipments they used in the area of the mass grave. Is that a simple mistake or a confident act of power?

World boxing icon Manny Pacquiao is now with Manny Villar’s Nacionalista Party. The rich boxer is hoping for a congressional seat, wherever one is available. Losing his own birthplace’s seat to incumbent South Cotabato Rep. Darlene Antonino-Custodio last election, he will gun for the congressional seat of the Sarangani. The Sarangani province is the birth place of his wife Jinkee. He will be illegible to run for that seat after successfully transferring his voter’s registration to the province and acquiring properties.

This is so very Manny Pacquiao anyway. Just like in the ring where he manages to use a practiced foot play, he is also set to use it in politics too. He had been trotting from and to parties. He was with the Liberal Party during the first attempt and he lost. He then transferred to the administration’s Lakas-Kampi-CMD. With the party favoring the Chiongbins of sarangani, he moved to the Nacionalista Party of Manny Villar where his intentions will be given priority.

How the heck did Manny Pacquiao earn a residency at Sarangani? Jinkee Pacquiao is a local of the province. Being married to the now real reach boxing icon, he is eligible to transfer his voter’s registration and he did. He also bought decent properties in the province, for show or for real.

Liberal Party’s Presidential bet Noynoy Aquino still leads the presidential election’s survey to this point. The results are constant since the Senator’s announcement of his plans for the 2010 elections last September 9. Pulse Asia and SWS, found the only son of National Heroes Senator Benigno Aquino and President Corazon Aquino to be locking the top position in their third pre-elections survey. Pulse Asia’s survey gave him 44 percent and SWS results are 50 percent.

Pulse Asia’s survey results are as follows: Aquino with 44%, Villar with 19%, Escudero with 13%, Estrada 11%, de Castro 4%, Teodoro 2%, Fernando 1%, and Villanueva 1%.

Contrast to speculations of other candidates, the Aquino magic seems to last longer than expected. Noynoy Aquino’s plans were not made after the death of the late President Corazon Aquino. It is not sure if he is just riding the waves of his parent’s fame, or someone with stronger personality in the family is pushing him, but they did a good job. Aquino is almost set to earn him his own fame after all these years. Being a brother to Kris Aquino weighted more. His ad is the most star studded of all! Amidst all this, is he really up for the battle?

Although the surveys are really good but there are some who do not approve of his skills. He is never visible in any major issues and he almost had done nothing significant since he had earned himself a seat. That seat is even earned for him by his mother, sitting next to him and talking for him in an endorsement.

Senator Chiz Escudero resigns from his post as the Nationalist People’s Coalition President after his 11 years of tenure. The young senator has nothing to say more than his accusations of being in ‘handcuffs’ in his party and that he is not a rich, which raged the party’s top brass and even some long time members. The sudden move was attributed to the non- committal of the party’s top guy, Danding Cojuangco, who is the uncle of both Noynoy Aquino and Gilbert Teodoro.

The senator is expected to run for the 2010 Presidential elections with Senator Loren Legarda, who have earlier announced her intentions for the second high seat at the Quirino grandstand. Chiz is also doing well in the surveys, so what was something wrong? Earlier, and before Senator Legarda is supposed to announce her intentions, Escudero was supposed to announce his own plans but was cancelled at the last minute. What most people eyed to be the culprit is the chairman emeritus of the party, Danding Cojuangco. Rumors have it that the tycoon did not approved of the solicited budget for Excudero’s plans; thus the abrupt shift.

Most politicians have doubted the intentions of Chiz Escudero. Senator Francis Pangilinan called the abrupt move as a gambit. The same are in the minds of most senators, ally or not to the young Escudero. The real question is what really happened beyond the closed doors of NPC? Was is money matters that compelled the 11-year member to move out?
